LOCATION
The Mani Peninsula is down in the southern-most point of the Peloponnese, and is protected from the harsh winds of winter by the Tagetos mountain range. It is bathed in Greek history with more archaeological sites than any other region of Greece, wonderful rugged coastline scenery, Maniot Tower villages, abandoned for many years but some now being renovated eg Vathia.
Some of the cleanest turquoise seas in the Mediterranean can be found in the Mani. The villages are scattered from the water's edge up into the foothills of the Tagetos, and almost all of them have superb sea views and sunset views.
The region is famous for its olive oil, fauna and flora, and the
mountain gorges and old stone paths are wonderful for walkers.
