SNOW HOUSE PLATSA MESSINAS GREECE

Snow House is situated in the Mani region of the Peloponnese, and is a wonderful example of a typical architectural style stone house of the Mani.

The house was carefully renovated in 2002 with modern comforts, but in keeping with the traditional Greek style of the region, retaining the beehive oven in the kitchen, restoring the wonderful marble quoines, and a traditional 'helmet' laid roof with old tiles.

It is in the village of Platsa, some 10 minutes by car up in the hills, but on the main bus route to the coast and the town of Kalamata (one hour away) and south to Aeropoli and the desolate beauty of the Inner Mani. Platsa has the advantage of being an old established village with two shops, two bars, and one of the best tavernas in the region. Eating on the restaurant terrace gives you spectacular views of the coastline.
